A Madison native and commercial broker and developer since 1982, much of Susan’s career has focused on downtown Madison. Her passion for the downtown was ignited when she was hired as Executive Director of the Central Madison Council (CMC) now named Downtown Madison Inc (DMI). It was during her tenure at CMC that the State Street Mall/Capital Concourse was first constructed.

Later, as an Assistant to Mayor Joel Skornicka, she played a role in the opening of the Civic Centre, development of the Capital Centre, approval of the first TIF assisted housing development downtown and numerous other urban initiatives. She went on to the private sector becoming Vice President of Development and Commercial Leasing for the Munz Corporation where she helped the company secure approval and construct the Department of Administration Building. It was at the Munz Corporation that she and Richard Munz led the effort to reorganize the Central Madison Council into what is now called Downtown Madison Inc.

She later initiated the creation of the Downtown Madison Business Improvement District. Susan left the Munz Corporation to start her own consulting company, Springman Real Estate LLC and was hired by the Mullins Group to help them gain city approval, construct and lease the Class A 22 East Mifflin Office Building. Governor Tommy Thompson then appointed her Division Administrator for the State of Wisconsin Department of Administrations Buildings and Police Services overseeing the management, leasing and security of all state owned and privately owned real estate and leases. Later as President of Executive Management Inc. she worked with its owner to develop the 1.1 million square foot mixed use University Square.

Susan is currently the Senior Project Manager for the Mullins Group where she is involved in leasing, management and project work on their downtown real estate holdings. She also is their community liaison with the Business Improvement District (BID), DMI and the Greater Madison Visitor and Convention Bureau. Susan spends a considerable amount of her professional and personal time involved in public policy issues that impact development and real estate in Madison in addition to serving on the Park Bank Board of Directors and Waunakee Plan Commission.
